Our current campaign - Securing our Future

This campaign seeks to raise USD 450,000 to secure permanent ownership of the 20-acre sanctuary land that Free To Be Wild has operated from for the past 12 years. By purchasing this site, the organisation will protect its existing infrastructure – including veterinary zones, primate camps, and educational facilities – from encroaching urban development, ensuring a stable future for the 89 animals currently in care and the thousands of students reached annually through its national conservation programs.

A Pathway to Permanence: Our Phased Acquisition

Securing our 20-acre sanctuary is a strategic, three-year journey. We have negotiated a purchase at fair market value to ensure that the infrastructure we have built over the last 12 years remains a permanent haven for Zimbabwe’s wildlife.

To achieve this responsibly, we have structured the USD 450,000 total acquisition cost into three critical phases:

Phase 1: Immediate Security

Target: USD 100,000.

Deadline: March 30, 2026.

Impact: This initial deposit is the most critical legal step. It formally secures the land and ensures uninterrupted operations for the 89 animals currently in our care, protecting them from the immediate threat of urban development.

Phase 2: Operational Stability

Target: USD 125,000.

Deadline: December 1, 2026.

Impact: This second installment strengthens our foothold, allowing us to maintain our 13 specialized mammal enclosures and 5 semi-wild primate camps without the risk of relocation or disruption.

Phase 3: Long-term Continuity

Target: USD 225,000.

Timeline: Payable over the following three years.

Impact: The final phase completes our purchase, safeguarding the future of our national education programs – which reach 14,000 students annually – and ensuring our rescue services remain a permanent fixture in Zimbabwe’s conservation landscape.
